Elyounoussi lashed home to level things on the night
Manchester City looked set to cruise into the Champions League quarter-finals, but Basel were sure to make a game of the second leg of their last-16 tie.
The visitors could easily have capitulated following City's early opener, but instead they fought back to level the game on the night.
The Swiss champions attacked down the left through Kevin Bua whose low cross deflected into the path of Mohamed Elyounoussi and the Norwegian international made no mistake, taking a touch before rifling home low from 12 yards.
Despite levelling things on the night, Basel were left needing four more goals without reply to advance.
