The fate of the Round of 16 tie between Juventus and Tottenham could be decided by the creative forces of Miralem Pjanic and Christian Eriksen.

They may not steal the spotlight like Paulo Dybala and Harry Kane but their performance in the tie will be pivotal for either side to progress to the quarter-finals.

On one hand, Eriksen is no longer the youngster who left Ajax in the summer of 2013 to boolster Spurs' squad, who were arguably stagnating at the time, as he enters into the best form of his life in England.

Last season he posted phenomenal numbers, providing 23 assists during 2016-17, and although he only has seven in this campaign, scoring eight goals too, his presence in midfield has helped his other team-mates blossom.

In addition, during the London club's incredible victory over Real Madrid in the group stages of the European competition, the Danish midfielder put in a man-of-the-match performance to show he can deliver on the big stage.

- Pjanic's meteoric rise -

Across the pond, Pjanic has gone more under the radar, growing little by little into his role in the centre of midfield for the Serie A giants.

Despite being only two years older than his opposing number, the Bosnian's career has been long. He first lit up the footballing world at Lyon in Ligue 1, scoring the vital goal in 2010 to knock Real Madrid out of the knockout stages in the Champions League.

Once the French club started to fall down the league in France though, Pjanic switched to the Serie A with Roma, scoring 27 goals in 159 appearances for the Italian outfit. However, it was his final season for the 'Giallorossi' which caught the attention of current club Juventus.

Netting 12 times whilst providing 13 assists, he convinced his Italian rivals to take a chance - something they have not regretted a year-and-a-half later.

Last season he would show how he is one of the best midfielders in Europe, especially in the home Champions League tie with Barcelona on 11th April, and will want to help Juve win the illustrious trophy after falling just short the year before.

Whoever comes out on top, it's going to be a great battle in midfield when Tottenham travel to Turin for the first-leg on Tuesday.
