The Spanish FA's Competition Committee has opened disciplinary proceedings against Barca defender Gerard Pique and Cadiz president for their comments after match officials. The former said that the majority favoured Real Madrid while the latter slammed the VAR in his team's loss to Real Sociedad.

The Competition Committee have opened disciplinary proceedings against Gerard Pique and Manuel Vizcaino for their complaints against referees this week. The Spanish FA (RFEF) confirmed the news and Cadiz revealed what had happened to their president on social media.

The Barca defender, in an interview with youtuber DjMaRiiO, said that he had been told the majority of referees are Real Madrid fans and so it is normal for them to favour 'Los Blancos'. That is why he is in trouble.

"The other day, a former referee said that 85% of referees are Real Madrid fans. How aren't they going to give decisions for Real Madrid? Even if it's subconsciously, they are going to favour one team over another. And I respect the referees' professionalism and I know that they are trying to do the best job possible, but, when there is a debatable decision... Real Madrid's La Liga title last season had some of the most outrageous refereeing that's been seen," Pique said.

His club have not commented on the matter although they may something in the coming hours or days. The player will be fined and quite possibly suspended. However, Pique is still out injured for now.
