Tottenham utility man Eric Dier says that club team-mate Christian Eriksen is in the form of his life ahead of Saturday's North London derby against Arsenal.

The Dane scored a stunning hat-trick on Tuesday to help his country to victory over the Republic of Ireland and a place at next summer's World Cup and speaking ahead of Saturday's game, Dier says that Eriksen's form for his country can only be a good thing.

"It's great for Tottenham that Eriksen's continuing to excel," explained the England man.

"We're seeing the best Christian Eriksen we've ever seen at the moment. Hopefully he can keep going."

Dier was in no doubt as to his objective when Spurs make the short trip to the Emirates at the weekend, saying: "The mentality going into it is to win. Simple really."

The conclusion of the internationa break means that there will now be no more international football until next March, but Dier believed that there are plenty of reasons for England to be positive ahead of next summer's World Cup.

"We have the individuals now it's just bringing everything together as a team," Dier noted.

"We're working on that and we're definitely going in the right direction. The ambition of everyone here is to keep improving and progressing to be on the level with the best teams in the world.

"Our mentality needs to be that no matter who we're playing against, we want to try to dominate the game, affect the game and win the game."
