Ousmane Dembele completed his best week in a Barcelona shirt since his arrival in the summer, thanks to a bit of help from team-mate Lionel Messi.

Flashes of brilliance against Malaga, a surprise start in the Champions League and a full 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao. In just eight days, Dembele's future at Barcelona looks very rosy.

The young Frenchman has dispelled any doubts about his hefty price-tag from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and is only getting started.

His major step forward came in Barca's Round of 16 second leg against Chelsea, in which the 20-year-old repaid head coach Ernesto Valverde's faith of throwing him in the starting XI by scoring his first goal for the club after some great link-up play with team-mate Lionel Messi.

In fact, his blossoming friendship with the Argentine is what has helped open numerous doors for the young striker. One which was clear to see against Bilbao on Sunday.

Switching roles from their European victory, Dembele was the provider for Messi, slotting him through before the Argentina international fired home his 25th La Liga goal of the season. After, Messi went over to give his team-mate a hug, clearly showing his appreciation for his talents.

Taking him under his wing, Dembele will no doubt improve more for Barcelona going into the final few months of the season, while Valverde will hope his newfound partnership with Messi will continue to develop from strength-to-strength.
