After the heavy defeat to Brentford, David de Gea took responsibility for Manchester United's heavy defeat in the second round of the Premier League.

David de Gea did not have a good Saturday afternoon. The Spanish goalkeeper made several unbelievable mistakes that led to Manchester United's 4-0 defeat at Brentford in the second round of the Premier League.

Indeed, after the match, the goalkeeper came out and faced the microphones to apologise to the Red Devils fans for his poor performance.

“I cost three points to my team today, to be honest. After the first mistake and the second, it was very tough for the team to get playing. It was a horrible day", said the goalkeeper, in comments to 'Sky Sports'.

And in the same vein, he lamented his first two mistakes that ended in a couple of goals for Brentford: "In the first one, it was an easy save, and it would have changed everything.... And then, I shouldn't have played with (Christian) Eriksen, I had to read the game better, Brentford were pressing all over the pitch".

"We have to be brave and consistent, keep working to change this situation. There's a new coach and new players and it's too soon to change the situation," summed up a self-critical De Gea.
