David Silva set the record straight on Wednesday, denying any season-long commitment with Supreme ShaTin in Hong Kong and insisting his appearance is strictly a one-off.

"I am surprised because ultimately, it is only to play one match. They reported the news as if I had signed for a whole season and they ruined my afternoon. What an afternoon..." the former Spain international told 'El Partidazo de COPE'.

David Silva was keen to stress: "It is a league match, but it is still just one single game. When it was put to me, I thought it was interesting because it is in Hong Kong, a place I like very much. I have a friend there and I have already been several times. And that is it... play a game and try to give a good account of myself," he added.

Silva also laughed off rumours regarding any financial motivation: "In the end, you laugh about it because people are quick to criticise. That is definitely not the case, thanks to my father and my financial advisor, with whom we have been making great investments for years."
