Dani Alves continues to be remanded in custody for the alleged rape of a girl in the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. 'El Programa de Ana Rosa' revealed on Friday the excuse used by the footballer to get his wife Joana Sanz to forgive him.

This Thursday a trial took place at the Barcelona Court of Appeal in which the defence of Dani Alves asked for the release of the footballer, who is accused of alleged sexual assault. His lawyers, according to 'La Vanguardia', argued that the victim did not present injuries compatible with rape. The girl's lawyer, for her part, asked that he remain in prison and pointed out that she does not even leave the house because of the trauma she is suffering from.

This Friday, 'El Programa de Ana Rosa' revealed the possible excuse used by the footballer to get his wife Joana Sanz to forgive him.

The contributors to the programme claimed that the Brazilian went so far as to "assure his wife that he doesn't remember anything about that night because he was drunk".

"When Dani Alves tells her not to go to the first trial it's because he wanted to spare her the trouble of seeing him in those conditions," added presenter Joaquin Prat.
