Bayern Munich confirmed through their official channels that Philippe Coutinho has undergone a right ankle operation to have various foreign bodies removed from the joint.

Philippe Coutinho has been forced to go under the knife. Bayern Munich's Brazilian midfielder has had a successful operation on the right ankle, according to the German side.

Coutinho underwent a small operation to remove various foreign bodies from the joint, so he will be out for 2 weeks until he can return to training with his teammates, Bayern added in a brief statement.

The Barcelona player, on loan at the Bavarian outfit, could thus miss the abnormal end to the Bundesliga season, although the league remains postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Bayern have now been able to return to training, following prevention measures to avoid infections. The 27-year-old Brazilian will return to Barcelona once the season ends.

Once he returns to Spain, he will have to decide what to do with his future, as he has none other than Chelsea after him, a team who are each day more and more closer to reaching a deal.
