Philippe Coutinho's future was finally settled yesterday as the Spanish transfer window slammed shut, though it appears that the player was not happy with his failure to secure a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Spanish publication 'Mundo Deportivo' reports that the 25-year-old was spotted by his Brazil team-mates weeping as his move to Barca broke down on Friday.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Ernesto Valverde's side all summer and speculation intensified futher following Neymar's move to PSG.

Despite leaving it late and the player being away on international duty, it was thought that Barca were still hopeful of sealing the deal, with measures put in place to allow the playmaker to undergo a medical at Brazil's training camp.

Liverpool remained stout though and refused to cede to Barca's demands, meaning that the player is destined to stay at Anfield until January at least.

Coutinho's close friend Neymar is thought to have told his fellow countryman: "you won't regret Liverpool's decision to keep you away from Barcelona", though if the 25-year-old really was spotted crying it appears that he really did have his heart set on the move.
