Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has been promised that he can finally join Barcelona in January.

The Catalan giants' long pursuit of the 25-year-old dominated the headlines during the summer but despite making three bids, the most lucrative of which came in around the £110m mark, Jurgen Klopp's side held firm.

The Brazilian had made it clear that he would like the opportunity to make the move but having seen his wishes rejected he agreed to knuckle down and has impressed since his reintegration to the squad.

Coutinho has scored three goals in his last three games for the 'Reds', finding the net against Leicester, Spartak Moscow and Newcastle, once again reaffirming his importance to the club.

Nevertheless, Spanish publication 'Mundo Deportivo' reports that the Samba star has a verbal agreement with Liverpool whereby he will be allowed to leave the club in January.

This comes in spite of Lvierpool's repeated insistence that the player, who is contracted tot he club until the summer of 2022, is going nowhere.
