Philippe Coutinho has emerged as a key player for Brazil over the course of the World Cup to date as Neymar continues to regain his levels of fitness and the Barcelona star has even match Pele after he scored or assisted in every group stage game.

With his decisive contributions against Switzerland and Costa Rica earning him Man of the Match awards, Coutinho's contributions haven't been going under the radar as the former Liverpool man continues to steal the limelight from Neymar.

With the PSG forward continuing his march back to full fitness, Coutinho has taken full advantage to demonstrate his importance to the 'Seleçao', equalling a record set by the legendary Pele.

Having already found the net against Switzerland and Costa Rica, his assist for Paulinho in the 2-0 victory over Serbia on Wednesday night made Coutinho the first Brazilian since Pele in 1958 to either score or assist in his first three World Cup games.

However, Pele and Coutinho are by no means the only players to achieve the feat, with Leonidas in 1934, Peracio in 1938, Ademir, Zizinho and Baltazar in 1950 and Blatazar and Didi in 1954 all having done so.
