Coutinho closes in on Premier League record

Currently the second highest Brazilian goalscorer in the Premier League, Philippe Coutinho will hope to score against Bournemouth to equal compatriot Juninho's tally of 29 goals in the English top flight.

Neymar scored his 100th goal for Barcelona earlier in the week, with fellow countrymen Romario, Ronaldo or Ronaldinho not struggling to net goals in the Spanish LaLiga. Perhaps a testament to the lack of affinity between English and Brazilian football, Coutinho could become the Premier League's all-time top goalscorer.

Juninho Paulista scored 29 times in 125 appearances in his two separate spells for Middlesbrough. Coutinho's 28 goals in 130 games mean he is relishing the chance to surpass the former Boro player: 'Hopefully I'll get the chance to break that record soon," Coutinho told the Liverpool Echo, 'Liverpool is a fantastic club. I was received really well by everybody when I first arrived here. It's got fantastic staff and fans and it has a huge level of ambition which is really exciting to see'.
