Thibaut Courtois has not been part of Real Madrid's training sessions for a while because of a back injury, but, this Monday, he once trained with his teammates. After missing 'El Clasico' which saw Lunin have to play between the sticks, Carlo Ancelotti received good news in a week which sees Madrid face Elche on Wednesday.
Journalist Melchor Ruiz reported on the Belgian's return on radio station 'Cadena COPE'. The most likely outcome is that his coach does not play him for the trip to Elche. He does not want to rush his return and starting against Sampaoli's Sevilla at the weekend seems a much more likely outcome.
The goalkeeper has not played for Real Madrid since the Madrid derby on 18th September, so in a one day's time, it will be exactly a month since he last turned out for his club. The reason for that is that he got injured while playing for Belgium at the end of September.
Courtois has played nine matches for Real Madrid so far this season and he has allowed Lunin more time between the sticks. The situation is ideal for the Ukrainian, who is showing he can be a reliable back-up when required.
