Everton have become the latest club to be linked with a loan move for wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Ronald Koeman has admitted that he would be open to a loan move in order to potentially help 'bridge' Costa's move from Stamford Bridge to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have demanded that the stroppy Spaniard returns to training immediately and puts himself in contention for selection under Antonio Conte.

However, the 28-year-old released a statement on Thursday stating that he 'must return to Atletico Madrid'.

Atletico are currently serving a transfer ban until January, meaning if Costa were to sign for the Madrid side, he would not be able to play until the new year.

Koeman is reportedly on the hunt for a new striker and when asked about further signings he said, "Is this about Costa?

"Of course you like to sign players for the future, but if you can get the best one that way, then why not?"

"That's for six months, the season, two years.

"It's difficult because it needs to be a quality player, or a young player who can develop or improve.

"We have the possibility maybe to sign good players, but we don't play in the Champions League - and that sometimes makes things very difficult."
