In the search for a calendar to end the season, Wednesday 5th August appears as the key date to play the final of the Copa del Rey, which is scheduled to take place at Cartuja, Seville.

Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao made it through to the final of the Copa del Rey but the coronavirus crisis has paralysed it all. There are advances with regards to when it will take place.

According to Juan Antonio Alcalá from 'COPE', RFEF's contacts with UEFA shed light on the final being played. The organisation's intention is for the European competitions to end in the middle of the summer when the national tournaments have already ended.

This gives room and opens a possibility for Athletic and Real Sociedad to meet in August, namely on the 5th. The RFEF is in favour of finishing all competitions, which is UEFA's idea, as opposed to cancelling leagues or cups, leaving them deserted or announcing the champions already.

RFEF's intention, chaired by Luis Rubiales, is that the final can also be played with fans, but the health and government authorities will have to determine this. Nothing will be done without the guarantees from the competent bodies.
