David Luiz was given his marching orders late on by referee Michael Oliver after a crunching challenge on Sead Kolasinac, and Antonio Conte did not want to talk about the incident in depth.
Chelsea's Italian manager referred to the Blues previous two games against the Gunners, in the FA Cup final and the Community Shield, where Victor Moses and Pedro were sent off.
'I don't talk about the referees, but the only thing I can say is we need to see what happened before the tackle', Conte said, suggesting Alexis Sanchez tripped Luiz in the build-up to the foul.
'I repeat that we have great respect for them. But sometimes, it is very strange to finish for the third time in a row with 10 men against Arsenal', he added.
The Brazilian defender's dismissal was also the third red card in five league games this season for Chelsea, with the Italian admitting he may have to address the issue of maintaining discipline in his team.
'For sure it's strange. A strange situation', he repeated after the game. 'I was a player and it can happen, this type of period and you are not so lucky to receive these red cards'.
'I think we have to try to improve all the situations physical, tactical and we will try to pay more attention in the future', he said, not placing all the blame on his players.
