The cited media outlet assures that the request from the Competition Committee has been sent this morning and Gil Manzano has 24 hours to explain his version of events.
Depending on what time the referee responds, the verdict on Costa's punishment will be known either this Wednesday or Thursday. We will then know how many games the Atletico man will be banned for.
Gil Manzano wrote in his match report that Diego Costa said to him "Me cago en tu pu** madre" (F**k your mother) on two occasions, although shortly afterwards, Atletico Madrid argued that the striker said "La pu** madre que me parió" (literally insulting his own mother which would be something like "f**k me).
The Competition Committee therefore wants the referee to make clear his version of events before coming to a final decision on the matter.
It is estimated that for an insult like that, the punishment will be a four match suspension although 'AS' also points out that the punishment could be greater and even end up being eight matches if the other incident picked up in the match report is considered to be a serious offence: "Once he was sent off and still on the field of play, he grabbed my arm to prevent me from showing yellow cards to his teammates."
