An Anthony Modeste goal and a brace from Florian Kainz gave Cologne a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.

Cologne fought back to seal a 3-1 victory at home to Hertha Berlin. Hertha's new-signing Stevan Jovetic got off to a dream start in the Bundesliga when the former Monaco striker tapped home with just six minutes played.

Cologne equalised when veteran French striker Anthony Modeste, 33, headed them level on 41 minutes.

Home midfielder Florian Kainz then turned the game when he scored with a second-half header and left-footed shot to give Cologne's new head coach Steffen Baumgart a winning start.

The other game on Sunday saw Mainz surprise RB Leipzig with a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal by Moussa Niakhate.
