Coates heroics prevent team-mate from choking
During the clash between Sporting Lisbon and Portimonense, former Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates performed the potentially life saving act.
The Uruguayan, who played for Liverpool and Sunderland in England has been hailed as a hero after his actions.
During the Primeira Liga clash, Sporting goalkeeper Romain Salin collided head first with the post and was left unconscious, which prompted Coates to step in with emergency aid to clear his airways.
With the goalkeeper knocked out, the risk existed that his tongue could have blocked his throat, leaving him unable to breathe.
Central defender Coates, thinking quickly, opened Sallin's mouth with his fingers inside there, prevented any risk to his wellbeing.
The 31-cap international frantically gestured for help from the medical team, which was soon on hand to make sure Salin was unharmed.
