A female referee is gradually becoming more of a regular site in the men's game. FIFA have revealed that the Uruguayan Claudia Umpierrez will referee in the Under-17 men's World Cup with Luciana Mascarana and Monica Amboya as her assistants.

FIFA have revealed the list of the referees called up for the men's Under-17 World Cup which begins in Brazil on 26th October. It will be the first time several female officials will be at the tournament

Six officials will attend the important global tournament with referee Claudia Umpierrez and the assistant referees Luciana Mascarana and Monica Amboya. 

In addition, Germany's Bibiana Steinhaus and Mexico's Quetzalli Alvarado have been selected as VARs while the Brazilian Edina Alves Batista is one of the support referees called up by FIFA. 

In total, there are 20 sets of referees and assistant referees as well as five support referees and 17 specialist VARs
