Javier Hernández is targeting a bright start to West Ham's Premier League campaign and is ready to make his Hammers debut at former home Old Trafford.

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández will make his Premier League return at Old Trafford on Sunday and says he feels “only happiness” towards his former club.

The 29-year-old spent four seasons at United. He scored 59 goals in 157 appearances helping the Red Devils to two Premier League titles in 2010-11 and 2012-13.

Chicharito is now relishing his new challenge at West Ham and is ready to make a positive start to life at the London Stadium.

He said, “I feel the same as when I went to Manchester United, when I went to Real Madrid and Leverkusen, and now West Ham. I am going to play football, which is something I was fighting for since I was a kid, and then we will see what happens."

"It’s easy to say I can score 20 goals, or that I have a lot of pressure, or not, or blah, blah, blah. Speaking is very easy but the most important thing is to prove myself on the pitch.”

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho said in April that his side lacked a 'killer' striker and that someone like Chicharito would have scored 20 goals in his team.

"We have some players that are not really players in love with the goal. They are good players, they are creative players, they can create, but naturally they are not the kind of guy that is a killer."

"I give you a simple example. In the way we play at Old Trafford, in the way we dominate opponents in the way we play in their box, I think Chicharito would have 20 goals easy. Even coming from the bench for the last 10 or 20 minutes, he will have 20 goals."

While the Mexican felt flattered by Mourinho's comments, he is now fully focused on his responsibilities at West Ham.

“I’m looking at it as a challenge in the same way as when I go with the national team or any of the clubs I played for before,” he said. “It’s football, I want to keep doing it and show I can achieve the things I dream of, and I think I can.”
