Cheryshev, Iniesta both dropped for last 16 clash
Russia's top scorer Denis Cheryshev and Spain veteran Andres Iniesta were both surprisingly dropped for their sides' World Cup last 16 clash on Sunday.
Their lack of involvement in the starting lineup came as a major surprise as the two teams prepared to do battle for a place in the last eight.
Cheryshev, who has three goals so far in the tournament, was the victime of a change in system that saw Russia dpeloy wing-backs rather than wingers.
There were four changes from the defeat to Uruguay last time out, with Mario Fernandes, Yuri Zhirkov, Daler Kuzyaev and Aleksandr Golovin coming in for the suspended Igor Smolnikov and midfielders Aleksey Miranchuk, Yury Gazinsky and Cheryshev.
