Chelsea defender Colwill could become the fourth England player to pull out of the England camp through injury, joining Callum Wilson, Maddison and Lewis Dunk.

Levi Colwill missed Chelsea's 4-4 draw with Manchester City with a shoulder injury. The player reported to St George's Park on Monday to be assessed by England doctors.

The injury does not appear to be serious but the player may not remain in Southgate's squad as a precaution. Tottenham defender James Maddison, Newcastle striker Callum Wilson and Brighton defender Lewis Dunk have already withdrawn through injury.

The Three Lions have called up three replacements for these players, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis have been called up by Southgate with this being their first senior call-up. Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa has also been included for the first time.

England have the centre-back position pretty well covered in case Levi Colwill has to return to Chelsea. England are already assured of a place at Euro 2024 but still have to play Malta and North Macedonia.
