Reports in Germany claim that Chelsea are the latest club to join the race for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Ozil was the star man for Arsenal against Huddersfield on Wednesday, scoring once and providing two assists in the 5-0 thrashing at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the German playmaker is out of contract with Arsenal at the end of the season, meaning he will be available for a free transfer in the summer, and he is certainly not short of potential suitors.

Manchester United and Barcelona are two of the clubs reportedly eyeing a move for the 29-year-old, but they're not the only ones.

According to German publication 'SportBild', Chelsea have emerged as another shock club who are interested in Ozil. Although it isn't clear whether they will make a move for him in January or wait until the summer, the Blues are supposedly a 'hot candidate' for his signature.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte signed midfielders Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater last summer, but neither player have really imposed themselves on the position, and it looks like the Italian coach will look to strengthen that position once again.

Arsene Wenger said this week that the former Real Madrid man won't be leaving Arsenal in January, which would open the door to a free transfer in the summer, but we'll have to wait and see which one of the European giants will end up with his services at the start of next season.
