Jamie Carragher has offered a tongue-in-cheek explanation for why Ruben Amorim remains in charge at Manchester United despite a poor start at Old Trafford.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, the former Liverpool defender suggested the Portuguese manager's charm and media presence have helped shield him from early dismissal.

Carragher argued that Amorim's skill at handling press conferences has softened criticism, even as results have been disappointing. "He's great in front of the cameras," he said, "and because he's not winning, people just think, 'shut up' rather than judge him harshly. If he were winning, we'd be applauding his character."

The pundit drew comparisons to past figures in English football, noting that charisma alone is rarely enough without success on the pitch. "We remember Brian Clough because he was a winner," Carragher said, "and Mourinho drew attention because he combined personality with trophies."

He concluded with a wry observation that the coach's appearance and confidence may have extended his tenure: "If he weren't so charismatic or good-looking, he might have been gone a long time ago. The results speak for themselves."
