This Monday, Enrique Cerezo spoke to the Spanish media about Saul Niguez. The Atletico Madrid president confirmed that the player, loaned out to Chelsea last season, has a place in the Atleti squad. He even went as far as claiming that Saul is "one of the best in Europe".
The Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, attended Angel Maria Villar's tribute on Monday. During the occasion, he had the chance to speak to the media. He even expressed his pleasure in Real Madrid's recent Champions League triumph over Liverpool in Paris.
When questioned on Saul, loaned out to Chelsea last season, the president only had positive words to say about the Spanish player. He confirmed that he will have a place in Cholo Simeone's squad for the coming season. He also reminded listeners that Saul still has a contract in effect at the club.
"Saul will return and he has a contract with us. He's one of the best players not only in Spain right now, but also in Europe. We have a good squad and I think he'll be fundamental next season, but this doesn't mean we won't be making signings", he said.
The Spaniard's Chelsea stats read as follows: 23 matches, 12 as a starter, and a single goal. He left the Wanda Metropolitano to regain some confidence but it seems as though this has not happened. He will go again with Simeone next season in a bid to bring out the best version of himself once more.
