The medical exams confirmed that Villarreal player Santi Cazorla suffered a light sprain in the left ankle that made him miss the game against Valencia, but he could be back in time for the match against Atlético Madrid.

Villarreal manager Javier Calleja confirmed the midfielder's injury but said that he is not ruling him out of Friday's match. The injury isn't serious and his participation in the next few matches will depend on the evolution.

For the match against Atlético, Calleja will still not have the injured Bruno Soriano, Alberto Moreno and Ramiro Guerra available. Out of these players, only the Andalusian fullback could return before the international break, and he will be on conservative treatment for another week.

The only positive for the side is that midfielder Vicente Iborra will return after missing the match against Valencia through suspension.
