Boca Juniors beat Nacional Potosi 4-0 after a flurry of chances in just 20 minutes. Enough time for three of the four goals and for Edinson Cavani to experience a rollercoaster ride. The ‘Matador’ missed one of the clearest chances of his career, although he made amends by scoring soon after.

Boca Juniors failed to make it through to the last 16, but avoided elimination with a good win over Nacional Potosi. They finish second in Group D behind Fortaleza and will have to play in the play-offs against one of the opponents from the Copa Libertadores.

Diego Martinez's team settled the match early on. After 19 minutes they were already three goals up thanks to goals from Kevin Zenon, Edinson Cavani and Saracchi, and in the 53rd minute Marcos Rojo made it 4-0.

In fact, what Cavani did was to correct the disaster of shortly before. The 37-year-old Uruguayan made one of the biggest misses of his career. The striker missed a huge chance when he was a yard from goal with an empaty net.

It was an action that Lucas Janson started in midfield. He drove and threaded the pass between full-back and centre-back to Cristian Medina, who squared the ball to the six-yard box, where Cavani sent his finish inches wide of the post.
