The Real right-back responded to Camp Nou critics by making the gesture towards home fans after Sergio Ramos equalised in El Clasico.

Dani Carvajal took to social media to apologise to Barcelona fans after he aimed a middle-fingered gesture towards them after Real Madrid scored late on to grab a draw in El Clasico.

Sergio Ramos popped up with a last-ditch header to ensure Madrid took a point from El Clasico with a 1-1 draw in Barcelona, but Carvajal got caught up in the celebrations.

The 24-year-old aimed a one-fingered gesture at the Camp Nou crowd, and as pictures emerged of the incident he could find himself in hot water with La Liga officials.

To try and smooth things over, Carvajal quickly took to Twitter to send his apologies to Barca fans, although he did add that he was 'responding to insults' from the crowd.

Me gustaría pedir disculpas por el gesto a un sector de la grada respondiendo a lo insultos. Es algo que no se debería hacer.

His tweet read: "I would like to apologise for the gesture towards a section of the crowd (I made) responding to insults. It is something that you shouldn't do".
