The Birmingham born striker wasted the chance to get her side back to winning ways in the WSL 1, by missing a penalty on the 75 minute mark, as the game ended goalless.

After a week in which she was targeted by online trolls, and her team fell to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of their great rivals Arsenal, Chelsea's Karen Carney had the chance to put all her footballing problems to bed by scoring a late penalty for her side.

Unfortunately for the striker, she would be thwarted by a good piece of goalkeeping, as it would not be a successful return to former club Birmingham City for the England star.

Last week's 5-0 hammering at home to Arsenal brought an end to the reigning champions 2 year unbeaten run at home for Emma Hayes side, and their woes continued on the road in Birmingham, as the hosts successfully grounded out a stalemate

After a stellar campaign last year, Chelsea have only won once so far this season, and the match with Birmingham marked their third goalless away draw.

However no matter how hard Chelsea pressed and probed;  Fran Kirby the epitome of a strong performance with multiple efforts on goal, an excellent individual performance from Birmingham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger helped Birmingham to continue their great start to the campaign, as they sit joint top of the WSL.
