Eduardo Camavinga was never in doubt. The talented midfielder was always clear that his future lied at Real Madrid.
Camavinga spoke to 'Telefoot'. The French media outlet published a snippet of his interview, which has been published in full this Sunday. "As soon as I saw that Real Madrid wanted me, I did not hesitate for one second," he said.
"I'm at the best club in the world. That will help him to try and get into the 2022 World Cup squad for France. Playing in the 2022 World Cup is one of my targets and, for that, I have to have good games for Real Madrid," Camavinga added.
The 18 year-old explained what has surprised him most about playing for Real Madrid. "The technical quality and training sessions have been what have attracted my attention most. When I arrived, I was tired when the first session finished, but I've been getting used to it."
What he is finding most difficult is the language: "It's tough: I like laughing, playing jokes... and I still don't have a good command of Spanish."
Camavinga had his dream debut against Celta Vigo which included a goal. "He was to my right, I took advantage of the fact that the rebound came to me to score. Initially, I didn't celebrate because I thought I wouldn't score in my first game. I looked at the referee... and then hell broke loose," he said with a smile."
He revealed that Benzema is helping him a lot to adapt: "He's a leader. We speak a lot, he's very funny. He leads the whole group,"
Lastly, he had words for his former club. "Rennes are the club I have in my heart, I watch their games. It's true I could have stayed... They will always be there. I'll return to the stadium to watch them soon," he promised.
