Reports claim that Burnley's £8m bid for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has been rejected.

Sean Dyche is keen to sign the 24-year-old, who he knows from his time at Watford.

Reports today claimed that the Burnley boss had sanctioned an £8m move for the striker, who scored 14 goals for Forest last season, though it now appears that said bid has been rejected.

The Zaire-born forward signed for Forest for £5.5m from Peterborough three years ago and has established himself as one of the Championship's top strikers, scoring 30 times in 47 starts in the division.

Dyche is well known for looking for the Championship for talent and is on the look out for a striker with Andre Gray looking set to leave the club this summer, Gray is out of contract next year and negotiations over a new deal have so far not made any progress.

Middlesbrough are also interested in the powerful poacher and although Forest boss Mark Warbuton doesn't want to lose the player, he accepts that every player has his price and has said that he would not stand in the player's way if a deal made good financial sense to the club.
