Leganés finished their first half against Real Madrid in style, as they equalised through Bryan Gil, who made the most of a cross from Jonathan Silva.

Leganés faced the last match of the La Liga season needing to win their game against current champions, Real Madrid, and hope for a slip up from Celta against Espanyol.

The match at Butarque didn't start too well for Leganés, who saw themselves behind in the ninth minute after a Sergio Ramos goal.

Defeat at half-time would have complicated the team from the south of Madrid's target a lot, but just before the break, Javier Aguirre's Leganés were filled with morale and illusion.

Jonathan Silva, from the left-wing, swung the ball into the box and there appeared Bryan Gil who, after good control with his right leg, managed to beat Areola in the Madrid goal.

In this way, and with the momentary draw from Celta, Leganés were once again one goal from safety which some weeks ago seemed an authentic pipe dream.
