Bruce: Terry in great shape
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has hailed John Terry's physical condition after the former Chelsea centre-half signed for the Villains.
The 36-year-old was convinced to sign for the Championship side after a round of golf with Bruce in Portugal and is expected to earn £60,000 a week.
Bruce waxed lyrical about the player's physical state, saying that "Physically, he's in fantastic shape for someone of his age. Even when he beat me at golf, he had only had half a shandy. He's looked after himself and not had many injuries."
The former Man United defender also insisted that money was not the pursuading factor for the Chelsea legend; "in all of this money wasn't the real issue, I have to be fair to John" he explained.
Terry himself insisted that he is "here to play, but also to win" he said that the move "wasn't financial" and that if that were the case he would not have joined Villa but rather one of the many foreign club that offered him big-money.
