Premier League clubs have voted to close next summer's transfer window before the start of the season.

Managers have previously complained that the current window, which allows players to move when the season is already underway, causes disruption to their squads and preparations.

However, from next season the window will close at 17:00 BST on the Thursday before the start of the Premier League season.

The decision was not unanimous and does not affect the length of the window in the Football League.

But this vote means that Premier League clubs will not be able to sign players when their season is underway, while other European teams will still be allowed to do so until the traditional deadline of August 31st.

This means that European teams will still be able to sign players from the Premier League after the start of the season in England, until the end of their own domestic deadlines.
