Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been banned for two matches by FIFA after his red card against Flamengo in the Club World Cup, with the suspension ruling him out of tonight’s game and a potential last-16 tie.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been handed a two-match suspension following his sending-off against Flamengo in the Club World Cup.

The Senegalese player was sent off just four minutes after coming on as a substitute for a studs-up tackle on defender Lucas Ayrton.

Jackson initially received an automatic one-match ban, which ruled him out of Chelsea's game against ES Tunis.

However, the FIFA disciplinary committee reviewed the play and found it to be a serious offence and decided to extend the sanction to two matches.

The decision of the international body is final and cannot be appealed, so Jackson will not be able to help his team in the next matches.

The striker will miss tonight's game and, should Chelsea progress, he will also be out of the last-16 tie.
