The Norwich player, Brandom Williams, hugged Christian Eriksen during his match against Brentford after it looked as though he has about to start a fight with the Dane. In comments to 'Football Daily', Williams explained why he chose to make the gesture. He felt it was the right thing to do after everything Eriksen has been through.

Christian Eriksen was awarded his first start since suffering from a cardiac arrest in the 2020 Euros last summer. At one point during the match between Norwich and Brentford, he was battling for the ball with Brandon Williams. Both players ended up on the floor and it looked as though the Norwich player was about to start a fight with Eriksen. However, instead he opted to hug the Dane.

The video of him doing this went viral on social media. But why did he do it? Williams explained this in comments to 'Football Daily'. He appreciated how hard the Dane has worked to get himself back on the football pitch and he felt he made a necessary gesture.

"It was just instinct.I got passed him and I felt him pull me down, we were on the attack and I was really angry so I was going to hold him but I know what he's been through and it's incredible what he's done. He's back now and it was something special for him to be back on the pitch for himself and to be involved in that I felt like he needed a hug", he said.
