Blackburn Rovers have reportedly rejected a bid of £100,000 rising to £200,000 with add-ons from Sheffield Wednesday for defender Charlie Mulgrew.

That's according to 'Sky Sports News'. Wednesday are believed to be keen to bolster their defence this summer with centre-back Tom Lees linked with a move to the Premier League.

Mulgrew only joined Rovers last summer but after the club's relegation to League one he is believed to be open to a move.

The Scotland international made his name during a six-year spell with hometown club Celtic and has represented his country on 26 occasions.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is in no rush to sell the player, having already lost goalkeeper Jason Steele to Sunderland earlier this week.

Mulgrew made 30 appearances in all competitions for Rovers last season and notably scored home and away against Championship winners Newcastle to seal two 1-0 wins.
