Real Madrid have still not decided on a date or an opponent for the club's opening home game before the season starts, but which has been played at other times of the year in recent seasons.
It will be the second time in a row it will not be played, something which has never happened before since the tournament began in 1979. Last season it did not take place due to the redevelopment of Real Madrid's ground.
In recent seasons, the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy has lost a bit of its importance. Gone are the days when Bayern, AC Milan and Ajax at their best took place.
The last edition was in 2018 against AC Milan and the year before that, they invited Fiorentina. Time will tell whether the pre-season game returns in 2021.
