The former Manchester United striker has signed a one-year deal with Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters.

The 36-year-old has joined the side managed by former Man United coach Rene Meulensteen.

The Kerala Blasters tweeted confirmation of Berbatov's signing on Wednesday.

The addition of the former Bulgarian international adds to the growing connection between the Indian club and Manchester United, as former Red Devils Wes Brown and Paul Rachubka both joined the Kochi-based franchise last week.

The United influence also extends elsewhere in the ISL with Atlético de Kolkata being coached by former striker Teddy Sheringham and former winger Steve Coppell taking charge of new ISL side Jamshedpur FC next season.

The fourth edition of the Indian Super League kicks off on November 17, three weeks after India hosts its first FIFA-sanctioned tournament, the U17 World Cup.
