A harmless chat between Karim Benzema and Ronaldo Nazário during the confinement ended up becoming one of the biggest controversies in French football recently.
The Real Madrid striker spoke of the qualities of his compatriot Olivier Giroud and put himself above the French national team striker, a team that has turned its back on him since his controversy with Mathieu Valbuena.
"You shouldn't confuse a go-kart with a Formula 1 car," he said, before qualifying his words a few hours later.
The former Monaco and PSG player Jérôme Rothen, who gave his views on RMC, has now given his opinion on the ongoing dispute: "I wasn't shocked by his statements because he simply told the truth. Everyone knows that there are three worlds of difference between Giroud and Benzema as footballers.
Although he also valued the titles won by the Chelsea striker, Rothen insisted that the argument used by Karim was a good one. "He compared Ronaldo to a Formula One car and then said he was the go-kart. He lowered himself at that point, so there wasn't so much disrespect."
