This Saturday, Karim Benzema will end another La Liga season being Real Madrid's top scorer. The Frenchman hasn't had to rely on penalties to reach his tally of 22 for the seaosn - he's only scored the one from twelve yards.

Real Madrid need to beat Villarreal and hope that Atletico slip up against Valladolid in order to be crowned champions of La Liga. That being said, they've never won the title before in the situation they currently find themselves in.

Even so, Benzema will return to the front line after being called up to the French national team by Didier Deschamps in the week, where he will look to add to his individual tally - the largest amount of the whole squad.

Benzema's current tally of 22 goals in La Liga hasn't relied on converting from the penalty spot - 21 of his strikes have been from open play. The only goal from the spot was in the match against Cadiz on 21st April, in which Madrid won 0-3 and Benzema scored a brace.

In the clash against Villarreal, Benzema could overtake the top scorer in the league, Gerard Moreno, who at the moment has 23 goals.
