Burnley centre-back Ben Gibson will not feature for 'weeks' after he underwent surgery on a hernia issue.
The defender joined the club over the summer from Middlesbrough to re-enforce the depth at the back.
However, he has made just two appearances for the 'Clarets' since making that £15 million switch.
Sean Dyche, the club's manager, confirmed that he will not be able to appear for them again for a significant amount of time as a result of the injury.
"He's had a minor hernia operation. He felt it against Olympiakos.
"This early in the season, you can't carry it. (It will be) weeks. The specialist says things are pretty simplistic."
Burnley next face Bourenmouth in the Premier League as they look to turn their dismal start to the season around.
