In a statement on social media, the Sunderland board announced the signing of Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Jude, from Birmingham. "I think this is the perfect club for me to continue my development," said the 17-year-old midfielder.

It has been a busy Wednesday for the Bellingham family. Earlier this morning, Jude was announced as a new signing for Real Madrid, while hours later Sunderland announced the arrival of Jobe, the younger brother.

"Sunderland AFC is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Birmingham City for the transfer of Jobe Bellingham," said the Championship outfit.

In the same vein, the board confirmed that the player will join the club in the coming weeks: "The 17-year-old midfielder will complete his move to Sunderland on his return from international duty with the England U18s".

The younger Bellingham expressed his feelings about this step in his career: "I'm delighted to be joining Sunderland and can't wait to get started. The opportunity for young players to move here and progress is clear, so I think it's the perfect club for me to continue my development.

Jobe Bellingham made his first-team debut for Birmingham in January 2022, when he was just 16 years old. During the 2022/23 campaign, he made 22 Championship appearances.
