It is no secret that Zinedine Zidane is 'BBC's biggest fan. But he doesn't only have eyes for his trident. In his squad there are two names that have, for some time, been knocking on the door: Marco Asensio and Lucas Vázquez want more.

The first has produced moments of pure madness, with superb goals, plays and performances. This put him on a very high pedestal that, now, not everybody remembers. But his contributions to the team, although less well noticed, have been highly effective for 'Los Blancos'.

The case for Lucas Vázquez is even more convincing. He has never been a fixture in the starting line-up, but has been fantastic at using his role as a super-sub to great effect. Such is the case that, last season, he featured in more games than any other player in the Madrid squad.

The occasions when the both players have started have, interestingly, coincided with Real's best games of the season. In the thrashing of Real Sociedad, the five goals against Sevilla, the 0-6 at APOEL, and the 2-0 against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, both Asensio and Vázquez were in the starting XI.

In the twelve times that Asensio and Lucas have been part of the starting line-up, nine have ended in victory for Real Madrid, along with two draws and one loss. That translates to a 75% win record, which is a great improvement on the teams's 60% win rate this season.

On an individual level, their contributions add even more weight to their cases for a starting spot in Madrid's attack. Asensio has grabbed eight goals and four assists, while the number '17' has bagged six and assisted eight.

Now, their clash with PSG is upon them, and everyone knows the importance of the game and, therefore, the importance of Zidane's starting XI picks. The players who are selected will receive a boost in confidence and respect, while the rest will know that, for the moment, they are not the 'Plan A'.

But, where there is life there is hope, and despite the favouritism towards Bale, Benzema and Cristiano in the starting lineup, the two young boys are a very serious threat to the front three.
