Bayern Munich have dropped out of the race for the services of current Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, according to Bild. The reason for this is that the London club's chairman has asked the Bavarians for 100 million euros to release the Austrian.
Bayern Munich are close to the end of the season and still do not have a coach for next season. The Bavarian side have had three coaches - Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick and Julian Nagelsmann - turn down the job, and now they have to add a fourth, that of Oliver Glasner, although part of the blame lies with the pretensions of the club to which he belongs.
As reported by 'Bild', Crystal Palace have shown their willingness to let the manager leave for a whopping 100 million euros. The Bavarian giants' response has been to remove the Austrian from their books in the face of the huge amount of money the club demanded for his release.
The source says that the German club were prepared to offer 18 million in compensation as Glasner, who is under contract until 2026, intended to move to Munich. However, the Eagles chairman Steve Parish played a trick on the Germans.
The Austrian joined Crystal Palace in February to replace Roy Hodgson. The British club, who have already been safe for several games, are currently in mid-table in the Premier League with 46 points. Before coming to London, the Salzburg native spent two seasons at Eintracht, where he helped them win the Europa League in 2021-22.
