Bayern give up Rebic chase

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has ruled his side out of the chase for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ante Rebic, despite having worked alongside the Croatian at club level last season.

Rebic enjoyed a fine World Cup for his country, helping them to reach the final before succumbing to a 4-2 defeat to France.

After the tournament, Rebit told 'GOAL' that he had received "concrete offers" from other teams for his services, but it appears that former manager Niko Kovac will not be swooping for his sevices.

The pair worked together at Eintracht Frankfurt last season, with Rebic's brace in the DFB Pokal final helping the club to victory over German champions Bayern Munich.

Kovac has since taken charge in Bavaria, but says that a move for Rebic simply "doesn't make sense".

"There is nothing between FC Bayern and Ante Rebic," he told 'Sport Bild'. "He is a strong personality and a great player but [a transfer] makes no sense. It doesn't make sense today, and it won't tomorrow."

News of Bayern withdrawing from the race could come as a boost to Manchester United, who have also been linked with his sevices and who are desperate for additions before Thursday's transfer deadline.
