'Catalunya Radio' says that there could be further pay cuts at Barcelona. The Barca president, Josep Maria Boartomeu, apparently asked the footballers at the end of May to take a further pay cut.

Apparently, the proposal was made to the squad when Bartomeu spoke to his players during a training session at the end of May.

On 23rd May, Bartomeu talked to his player at the training ground complex. He was wearing gloves and a mask and the president spoke to the footballers for a few minutes.

But the visit also had a specific purpose. According to 'Catalunya Radio', he also met the club's CEO Oscar Grau and Albert Soler, a member of the board who has been taking care of the issue of the pay cuts.

The radio station comments that the club's delicate financial situation as a result of the coronavirus crisis has led to the club asking for their players to give up some more of their salary.

The players have been made another request. Barca need to save just under 10 million euros on players' wages, but the players have yet to respond to the proposal.

The board, according to the cited media outlet, are considering asking their players to also agree to their contracts being altered. That could be interpreted as players' salaries being permanently reduced.
