After failing to land Philippe Coutinho in the summer transfer market, Barcelona are ready to mount a final push to secure the Liverpool playmaker's signature in January.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the Spanish giants will meet up with Kiavash Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci, Coutinho's agents, next week.

In what was one of the most prolonged transfer sagas of the summer, Liverpool eventually won the battle to keep hold of their star man, but it is understood he still has his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp.

The Spanish media outlet claim Coutinho, who has found his way back into Jurgen Klopp's starting XI, is operating on a 'short-term solution', where the Brazilian will fully commit to the Anfield club, provided he can join Ernesto Valverde's side when the transfer window reopens in January.

Barcelona had identified the 25-year-old as a replacement for compatriot Neymar, who left for PSG in August in a world record £198m deal, but instead signed Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.

However, after making a positive start to life in Catalonia, the France international suffered a hamstring injury that has ruled him out until the end of November.

Will Coutinho soon be competing with Dembele for a place in the Barcelona starting XI? Let us know what you think in the comments.
